GO COLOR BLOCK !

Color block is summer’s biggest trend.
It is a method of wearing multiple solid colors in an outfit. The outfit revolves around a palette of two or more colors, usually in bold and bright shades.
The secret to pulling it off is sticking to simple shapes  – think classic shifts, maxis, pencil skirts  – and choosing shades that are the direct opposites on the color wheel. Try clashing pink and orange, magenta and blue, green and black to create the most effective blocking effect.

Choose shades that have the same level of intensity. You can’t team fluro yellow with a dark purple – make sure that each piece has the same amount of grunt otherwise the look will be unbalanced.

Look 1: Kashika is wearing a burgandy and Navy panelled maxi dress from Splash. She has opted for golden accessories- a Cuff and a neckpiece to keep the look simple and allow the colour to pop. She has styled this with a grey sling bag and heels. The result is a simple yet very chic look.

If you’re scared of super bright colours you can try colour toning. Similar to blocking, it uses shades within the same family. Try light pink and purple or pale green and lemon pastels – it’s sophisticated and makes the trend a little more conservative and grown-up.

Look 2: Kashika has tried the ethnic color toned kurta from ‘People’. This brand creates ethnic wear with a contemporary twist. It has panels in Pink, lavender and purple on the front right and at the hem, side slits.

DO NOT : Prints and patterns are typically not used in colorblocking, as such designs would take away from the “blocked” visual. So do not add patterns of any kind when colour blocking an outfit.

Look 3: Reesha has styled her simple white top and denims with a color block handbag. This way you can choose what you want to color block and keep rest of the things simple. If your dress is monotone, keep the accessories minimal and vice versa.
